Castle Jackpot

Art direction and illustration for TVC
utilising royalty-free imagery.

Castle Jackpot uses a Blackletter-style logo, so it only made sense to lean into the medieval aesthetic for this TVC. We wanted to make something fun and playful - something Python-esque that would appeal to an older audience. I sourced hundreds of royalty-free illustrations from the British Library, mostly Victorian-era plates depicting the Middle Ages. Though I wasn’t precious with anachronisms as clashing eras can create the humour we were going for.
I used a desaturated palette to mimic the muddy patina of art from the Romantics who often depicted medieval scenes. This was to ensure the more modern elements of the collage with brighter colours would pop, such as the Castle Jackpot logo.
